An Adaption to truely frown on.

Posted : 17 years, 1 month ago on 13 December 2007 03:48 (A review of Tsukihime Lunar Legend 1: Life Threads [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC])

Upon watching the first three episodes I was morbidly confused. The characters seem to have been grated so coarsely that I could not recognize them any longer. Tohno Shiki isn't the confused and generally happy boy I knew him to be in the visual novel, Akiha isn't the tsundere I love, and the maids.... Anyway, there was a number of changes to the story as well such as - Shiki killing Arcueid in the Park instead of stalking her home. Now, one thing I adored about the stalk home is really it makes Shiki look like a psychopathic murderer. It defines his Nanaya side which is oddly not present throughout the show itself. Curry butt, Ciel, is there and I didn't see any real curry eating in general. All the characters seem to have taken some drugs to make themselves mellow and just not the characters they were meant to be. I was waiting for Akiha to get angry at Shiki, I was waiting for Hisui to sharpen her eyes, and I was waiting for Nanaya to kill Arcueid in her kitchen. Well I got none of that but I suppose not many would care because not many played the visual novel. Taking everything Tsukihime away and watching Shingetsutan Tsukihime for itself, apart what it was supposed to be adapted from, the show is elegant yet sleepy. The music is nice but the visuals are questionable. The characters have an odd manly face to them all, but the backgrounds are very nice. I like how the lines of death had been changed to threads (sarcastic).

All in all I couldn't watch anymore of this show, simply because it was quite boring, which is a shame. I give it a three just for having the cast of characters move even if they are unrecognizable.
